Measles Alert: Popular Brandon Spots Potentially Exposed!
A recent measles outbreak has the community on high alert! The province is urging residents to be vigilant as several well-known locations in Brandon have been identified as potential exposure sites. This news is particularly concerning due to measles' highly contagious nature.
The Community Sportsplex Pool, a beloved recreational hub, is at the center of this warning. Anyone present in the pool or changing room on February 4th, between 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM, is advised to be cautious. But here's where it gets tricky: the potential exposure period extends until February 26th, a full three weeks later.
And the list doesn't stop there. The Shoppers Mall, a bustling shopping destination, could have been a hotspot for exposure on the same day, February 4th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Imagine the number of people who might have been unknowingly exposed while running errands or enjoying a day out!
But wait, there's more. A&L Cycle and Obermaier's Sausage & Meats, local favorites, are also on the list. These places were potentially exposed on February 4th, during the afternoon and early evening.
The province is taking this situation seriously, and so should we. Measles is no joke, and its symptoms can appear 7 to 21 days after exposure. So, if you were at any of these locations during the specified times, keep an eye out for symptoms like fever, rash, cough, or runny nose.
