Get ready for an electrifying performance by The Jungle Giants at the BBL final on Sunday! Frontman Sam Hales promises an unforgettable halftime show filled with pure, unadulterated energy. But here's the twist: this isn't just about the cricket match; it's also a sneak peek into the band's upcoming musical journey.
Hales, the creative force behind the popular Aussie indie rock band, is set to fly into Perth from Melbourne, eager to soak up the sun and the vibrant atmosphere at Cottesloe Beach. Then, it's showtime at Optus Stadium, where they'll headline the entertainment for the season's grand finale.
The band will take to the KFC FLG stage for two electrifying sets, one before the game and another during the innings break. Hales, despite admitting his lack of cricket skills, is honored to perform at his first cricket show, especially with lead guitarist Cesira Aitken, a huge BBL fan, by his side.
"It's going to be our biggest show ever, and that's insane!" Hales exclaimed.
And here's where it gets controversial... Hales revealed that while they'll play songs fans know and love, the halftime show is all about high energy and drama. "It's going to be quick, fast, and extremely dramatic - that's my style!" he said.
Fans can look forward to hearing the classic "Used To Be In Love," Hales' current favorite live track, as it never fails to get the crowd singing along.
The band's excitement for their summer tour in WA is palpable, with Fremantle holding a special place in their hearts. "I love WA, especially Fremantle. We have so many music friends there - Crooked Colours, San Cisco, Tame Impala - it's an incredible scene to be a part of."
Hales continued, "I'm from Melbourne, and let's be honest, our beach options aren't as beautiful. So I plan to make the most of my time in Perth and soak up the sun."
But the real treat is yet to come. Hales revealed that the band has a new single dropping at the end of February, followed by a highly anticipated new album later this year.
"The new album, partly written in Greece, is a reflection of my breakup. It's been a process, but I'm proud of how it pushes into new, orchestral dance territories. Lyrically, it's powerful, and vocally, it's a fresh, new style for me. I can't wait for fans to hear it!"
And that's not all - Hales hinted at a "big album tour" coming soon, promising a massive Australian, American, and European tour.
After the BBL show, The Jungle Giants will return to WA in April for the Here Comes The Sun music festival, coinciding with the Margaret River Pro.
So, cricket fans and music lovers, mark your calendars for an unforgettable Sunday!
And this is the part most people miss: The Jungle Giants' performance at the BBL final is more than just a halftime show; it's a glimpse into their musical evolution and a celebration of their love for WA.
